Arizona Diamondbacks draft paralyzed player

  • Published in Sports

California’s Mr. Baseball for the year of 2010, Cory Hahn was destined to be in the Big Leagues, and to make an impact. After high school, Cory was drafted in the 26th round to the San Diego Padres, but turned that down to play college baseball at Arizona State.

Just 3 games into in college career, Cory slid headfirst into 2nd base and collided with an opponent.  In a freak accident, Cory had broken his neck and doctors told him he was paralyzed from the chest down.  Cory knew his baseball career was over, but he held his head high and pursued a business degree while being the assistant coach for his team.

Being that he was eligible for the MLB draft again because he was 3 years removed from high school, the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the 34th round this past Saturday.  It was also significant because Cory had worn #34 at Arizona State.  Cory’s story is an inspiration to all, and we wanted to congratulate him on being drafted.  What an honor.

Have a great day, and let the good news be yours,

Deployed father surprises daughter at baseball game

  • Published in Sports

What an awesome feeling to be able to throw out the first pitch at a Major League Baseball game.

Alayna Adams was selected to throw out the first pitch at the Tampa Bay/Boston game to honor her father Lt, Col Will Adams who had been deployed in Afghanistan for the past two years.  What Alayna didn’t know, was that her father was behind the catcher’s mask waiting for her to throw him the ball.

What a beautiful moment it was when her father caught her pitch and then lifted his mask.  She instantly ran into her father’s arms, which could possibly be the greatest moment this year in sports.

Have a good day, and let the good news be yours,

Josh Hamilton is known for his interaction with his fans, but on this day he took it one step further.  Hamilton signed a ball for an excited fan during a game between the Angels and A's which in itself is awesome for a fan.  He also added a message on the ball which read "Your hair is awesome" :-).  The fans reaction is priceless.
