Co-workers share lottery winnings with employee

Every employee at Keller Williams Partners Realty in Plantation, Florida pitched in $20 for 120 tickets for the Powerball lottery…. everyone except Jennifer Maldonado, the administrative assistant who just started her first week of work at the office.

Jennifer's co-workers asked her if she wanted to pitch in, but money was a little tight and she hadn't received her first pay check, so she replied with a simple "no thanks".

The next day when Jennifer arrived at work, everyone was screaming and jumping for joy shouting that they won.

“I knew I was the only one who hadn’t put in the money, so I thought they were pranking me." Jennifer said.

Instead of leaving her out, Jennifer co-workers shared the winnings with her even though she did not pitch in!  Every person received $83,333 after taxes!!

"It’s about sharing the happiness," Laurie Reader, another employee said.

Keller Williams Partners Realty should definitely win the "Best place to work 2013!!!".

And that's what's good,

Missouri couple uses lottery winnings to upgrade their hometown

Mark and Cindy Hill may be the nicest lottery winners ever.  After winning $136 million lump sum after taxes, the happy couple upgraded their hometown Camden Point, Missouri.

First they paid for a brand new fire station.

'It's a situation where if we had to do it ourselves, it would take 25 years,' said Walt Stubbs, a friend and chief of the local volunteer fire department.

Then they went to on to build a new baseball field a safer distance from the highway. The Hills gave over $50,000 to the town to buy land for a new sewage treatment plant so people could get off their individual septic tanks.  They also gave away money to the local schools.

The Hills did not forget about themselves.  Mark quit his job and bought a new pickup truck :)  They still live a low key life with their three sons and one daughter.

Couple gets laid off from jobs and win $1 million jackpot

Times were getting difficult to Riley Gunn, his wife Misti and their three kids.  Riley got laid off from his job as a project manager for a telecom company in Reno, Nevada and Misti lost her job as a customer service representative for a software company.

Reno became too expensive, so Misti's sister let them stay in a one room cabin that she owned in Wolf Creek.  The couple registered for classes at Rogue Community College to get their degrees and help them get back on the job market.

They were on their way back to the cabin when they stopped in a small store in  Merlin, Oregon to get something to eat.  Even though they didn't have much money, Riley secretly spent $16 on lottery tickets - he knew his wife would NOT approve.

Their small gamble worked out because they won the $1 million jackpot!  They had to borrow some money from friends to afford the 200 mile trip to the Oregon Lottery Headquarters, but I'm sure they had no problem paying them back with their $670,000 lump sum payout.

What did the couple do with the money?  They immediately donated 10% to their church.

"You give back to God what he is giving to you," Riley said.

Then they purchased to brand new Jeeps and put a bid on a house.  Riley plans to use the rest of the funds to start his own business.

"It's going to change my life," Misti said with tears forming . "Living off nothing is just very hard."
