The Miami Marlins are hitting home runs in the community – Yes I know that is such a cliche statement, but I had to do it 🙂  When the Marlins broke ground on their new park in Miami, Florida, they created a Marlins Ayudan (Spanish for “help”) team to do work in the community.

This Ayudan team, also called the “blue shirts” is working wonders in the community.  In 2012, they donated over $1.2 million and have clocked in over 5,000 hours in community service!!!  Over they years, they estimate that 100,000 people have been helped by the program.

In October 2012, over 200 members of the Marlins staff went to Miami Edison Middle School to give an entire day of service which included painting, gardening, and working with the kids.  “Our hope is that the kids realize the importance of education and learning lessons.”, said Marlins president David Samson.

They even donated $10,000 to the school’s Red Raiders Room which is a collection of games and computers that students can use if they are doing well.  The kids were of course ecstatic 🙂

Keep up the good work and spreading the Good News!!

Peace & Love,

Jon
